Patuxai, Vientiane, Laos

On our way walking back from Wat Sisaket we saw that the Patuxai arch was just down the road, so we headed over to see it as well.  On the map the sites had seemed far apart, but they turned out to be mostly within walking distance.  Vientiane is actually a pretty small city for being the capital of a whole country.  Patuxai had been remodeled to resemble a similar French arch, but unfortunately, it was never completed.  It’s still quite beautiful, even in it’s unfinished form.  We were able to climb the stairs all the way to the top, even though the top part was just about to close.  From the top there is a great view of the city in all four directions.  When we climbed back down the fountain out front began to perform.

Next to the arch there is two fountains with a park inbetween them where locals come to hang out or go for their evening walk/run.
