Temple of Heaven, Beijing, China

April 30, 2009:

George and I headed off on the subway to visit the Temple of Heaven.  If you are next to a subway line it is very easy to get here since there is a stop right out in front of the gate.  We purchased the tickets that also allow entrance into 3 of the buildings within the park area.  The temple area was quite beautiful and it was a relaxing visit.

Here are some photos of the iconic temple often shown in ads for China.  The Temple of Heaven is huge and you could easily spend the  whole day here.  We loved the atmosphere, where hundreds (if not thousands) of locals came to dance in the park area or play cards or sing karaoke.

After visiting the temple we went out to dinner with Pan to have Beijing (mis-named Peking) Duck for a farewell dinner.

On a street nearby the restaurant there are vendors selling all sorts of interesting snacks.
