Today we found the best deal yet for lunch at Mama Daeng Cheap and Tasty Eats. We stopped for lunch on our way back from the Karon post office on Patak Rd, a little before turning back towards the ocean on Kata New Rd. George got chicken fried rice and I got sweet and sour chicken–both were yummy. We each ordered a Pepsi, as well, and the grand total was 100 baht (US $3). All the entrees on their menu are just 35 baht (US $1)! At that price it’s better to eat out than to go grocery shopping. We have found a couple places where the two of us can get lunch for $4. There is JJ’s restaurant on Khoktanot Rd, on the way to Kata beach studio, and the place we ate at in Phuket Town the other day was also inexpensive. The restaurants along the beach charge a premium, starting at $3-$6 a person, but once you get off the beaten path the prices are much better. We will be going back to Mama Daeng’s next time we go to the post office.

How bout some photos of your grub (the good, the bad and the ugly) to make the rest of us back home envious? 🙂
Good idea. We’ll take photos next time.
