On our third day in Sapa we decided to stick close to town, since we had to catch the train back to Hanoi that evening. We got a slower start to the day and walked up Dragon Mountain, right up the path in front of our hotel, Thai Binh. The entrance fee was about 25,000 dong, and well worth it! George had been suffering from a cold ever since the night train to Sapa, so it was good to take it easier for the day. The mountain, with various gardens, stone formations, and viewpoints along the way was quite scenic! I’d definitely recommend it for someone visiting Sapa. It’s close to town, so you don’t need transportation or a guide, and it’s not very difficult of a climb (although I did slip and fall on a muddy rock). We took lots of photos on our way up.

The view of the mountains would have been even better in the summer time and more flowers would have been in bloom.

There were wooden signs along the way directing us to the various look outs and gardens and commanding us to “go up” or “go back.”

It was very Lord of the Rings-ish!

Sometimes you gotta duck! I even lost George in the maze of stone pathways.

We weren’t sure why there was a pair of ostriches at the top of the mountain…

Around Thet (Vietnamese New Year) people bring a peach blossom branch into their homes for good luck and a mini-orange tree inside to bring wealth in the coming year.

We bought some souvenirs from these nice ladies.
