For the second half of the day on May 25, 2010 we ventured to the nearby town of Kotor. This time we took a bus from the main bus station in Budva. Our mission in Kotor was to climb to the top of the city wall!
We found the start of the stairs and paid a small entrance fee (a few Euros) and up we went!
It was hot and the stairs were steep, so we’d take a break every so often to catch our breath.
As we climbed the views kept getting even more beautiful. We stopped to take some photos at a beautiful look-out near the top.
When we reached the top of the wall we admired the view, which wasn’t quite as good as from the view point we had stopped at on the way up. It only took us less than an hour to climb to the top, which was less than we’d expected from reading the guide book. After resting for a little while we headed back down.
When we reached the bottom of the stairs we treated ourselves to a cone of gelato, which was the most delicious strawberry ice cream we have ever tasted! The strawberries were so fresh and flavorful!
If you visit Montenegro, climbing the City Wall of Kotor is a must-do! The views are absolutely gorgeous!
