We rented kayaks our first evening on Phi Phi and again on our third day there. There were kayaks to rent at various spots along the beach. The price seemed set at 200 baht ($6) for the first hour and 100 baht ($3) for each hour thereafter. We thought that was a reasonable price considering the large inflation rate of everything in Thailand for tourists. The first evening we just paddled around Loh Dalam Bay for a while and looked at the fish and rocks and urchins under the water. On our last half day we rented the kayaks again for one hour and paddled around the corner of the bay to Monkey Beach. If you have any experience with kayaking it will be an easy trip to make to Monkey Beach (about 15 minutes). Otherwise, you can still do it, just leave a little extra time. We wished we had longer to stay at the beach, but we needed to be back to catch the 2:30 ferry back to Phuket.
Tourists come to Monkey Beach to feed the monkeys, but we didn’t see any monkeys while we were there. We only had about 30 minutes to spend on the beach, but wished we had at least an hour. Since it’s more difficult to get to, it’s not nearly as crowded as the main beach on Phi Phi Don. This was more of the beautiful Phi Phi Island I remembered! The sand is also a very fine smooth powder I would say the consistency is similar to flour 😉 The best we have yet to encounter on the islands.
