Low Yat Plaza and Times Square Shopping Malls, Kuala Lumpur

It is interesting the things you start to miss after being away from home for three months.  For me, one of the things I missed were nice big clean malls, with set prices on the price tags.  And boy was I in for a treat!

Low Yat Plaza- Electronics Mall

On our second day in Kuala Lumpur (KL) we hopped on the cheap and fast monorail in Chinatown and headed to the Golden Triangle area to check out the malls.  We started out at the electronics mall, Low Yat Plaza- a techie’s paradise.  I kept thinking how much fun Dale and Scott would have shopping here with George.

We were finally able to find the newest models of cameras and I got a Pentax Optio W60, which is waterproof!  So now I don’t have to bother with putting my camera in an underwater housing before going swimming, I can just take the camera right into the water!  So now, once again, some of the photos in this log will be from my camera (as well as the video clips that will be premiering soon).

We tested out some of the features on my camera as we ate lunch in the basement level food court at Low Yat.  The food courts in the malls and shopping centers are the best places to eat in Malaysia!  Lots of selection plus very good prices!  And you can order real food, not just fast food like at the malls back home.

Berjaya Times Square Shopping Mall

Next we headed across the street to Berjaya Times Square Mall, in the Bukit Bintang area.  This is South East Asia’s largest mall!  There were so many floors I couldn’t get them all in one photo!

Every mall ought to have roller coasters inside it, right?

And for convenient one-stop-shopping, why not get married inside the mall, as well?

There will be more about the towers in another post coming soon.

And of course, the Times Square Mall also has a movie theater.  We watched “Seven Pounds,” which I highly recommend.  The tickets are only 10 ringgit per person ($2.74)- a bargain!  And the nifty thing is that caramel popcorn is the standard!  With only a tiny little section of salted popcorn available.  And the drinks and popcorn are also reasonably priced.  I like going to the movies in KL!
