August 2012
We spent our month on Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand mostly catching up on work, broken by swims in the pool and walks on the beach. On some Wednesdays we would take the songthaew to the Central Festival Mall in Phuket Town, to watch movies (which are cheaper on Wednesdays).
The waves are rougher and the tide higher in August than during our previous stay, which was in the December- January high season. When we first arrived at Kata Beach this time it was close to the full moon, and there was only a small sliver of sand to walk along. As the month went on, the tide went down and there was more beach available, but the waves were still a bit rougher than I like for swimming.
Even this time of year, the ocean at Kata Beach is beautiful!
Frequent swims in the pool is a great way to break up the work day and combat the hot weather!
There is a local market on Kata Road on Mondays and Thursdays. We would shop at the market for tropical fruits.
Rambutan are one of our favorite tropical treats!
And of course, we had to take some silhouette photos at the beach!
Our month on Kata Beach allowed us to recuperate after our travels through Myanmar and get some work done. But the highlight was a visit from one of our good friends! Find out who in our next post….
